American Community is a 70 year-old company headquartered in Michigan. Their rates are always cheaper than Blue Cross for healthy individuals and families. Their Major Medical plan (Medalist) is very similar to Blue Cross' Alliance Choice 80/60 plan. However, the American Community plan is slightly better. American community is more strict when it comes to pre-existing conditions, but that's how they are able to keep their rates down.
